Our mission is to create immersive journeys that allow you to discover the knowledge and beauty related to the wellbeing of nature and people found all over Japan.
Connecting the culture of the regions in tune with Earth to the future
In order to make this wish come true, we focused on the concept of making, which is the basis of life, and is at the center of economic activity.
We gathered experts of diverse backgrounds from across borders and regions to create a research team, exploring the skills and wisdom associated with making in regions across Japan from a range of perspectives in the form of a dialogue, discovering the unique wisdom and beauty created by the local ecosystem of making.
In this age that calls for harmony between nature and people, we want to share our discoveries with the world in the form of journeys.
The project aims to discover and foreground "making" as a journey to understand "where we are on Earth and with whom we are living.”
We share hints from beautiful work and landscapes to advance along the path toward a chain of wisdom of symbiosis between nature and people.
We hope that this project, which began in Kyoto, can discover and share knowledge and beauty that will eventually become in InterConnected Arts/Earth, a "library of experiences" to learn about the joy of living on Earth.
We will continue to co-create with partners around the world.

Passing the watershed of wisdom to the next generation through creating journeys
We start by making a ‘traveling laboratory’.

Our process begins with assembling a diverse team of experts from various disciplines, including scholars, artists, chefs, photographers, designers, business managers, and consultants.
This team is at the heart of what we call the ‘Travelling Laboratory’.
In the Travelling Laboratory phase, our team embarks on exploratory trips to regions across Japan.
Here, they conduct in-depth studies of the local environment, including the landscape, climate, history, and culture.
The focus is on understanding how these elements influence each area's traditional and contemporary practices of making and creating.
During these exploratory trips, our team deeply analyses local craftsmanship, uncovering the unique skills, wisdom, and aesthetic values that shape the region's creations.
They participate in and observe the local processes, interacting with artisans and community members to gain firsthand experience and knowledge.
Sharing the process of making journeys with the community.

The insights gathered from these exploratory trips are then transformed into tangible experiences.
Our team collaborates to design workshops and activities that reflect and celebrate the local art of making.
These are not just observational tours; they are interactive experiences where travellers can engage directly with the creative processes and cultural practices they are learning about.
The Travelling Laboratory phase also results in the production of various multimedia content, including videos and articles.
These materials are crafted to share the beauty and intricacies of Japanese craftsmanship with a broader global audience, fostering a community of creative individuals interested in these unique practices.
Traveling is a donation to each region and enriches the climate and culture.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of our approach.
The travel experiences we design are conscientiously crafted to support and enhance the local environments and communities.
A portion of the revenue from our travel itineraries is allocated to sustainable practices, such as tree planting, water conservation efforts, and initiatives to teach and preserve local skills and culture to the younger generation.
Ultimately, InterConnected Arts/Japan strives to offer more than just travel; we aim to create a bridge between travellers and the diverse cultures and skills across Japan.
Our tours are carefully curated to ensure they are educational and interactive and contribute positively to the regions we visit while providing a meaningful and enriching experience for our guests.
